National Voter Registration Day is Coming!

Blog / Last Updated:

National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is coming! More than 300 League of Women Voters affiliates nationwide have already signed on to hit the streets and help register voters as part of this year’s National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 27. To see what’s being planned, follow #voterregistrationday on social media.

For the fifth consecutive year, the League is thrilled to be part of this massive celebration of voting and democracy. With so much at stake for all Americans this election year, now is the critical time for each of us to ask our friends, neighbors, coworkers and family if their voter registration is up-to-date.

Millions of Americans miss out on the chance to vote in presidential elections because they do not know about voter registration deadlines in their state. Make sure the people in your life are not left behind! If people you know have questions about the voter registration or voting process, point them toward www.VOTE411.org – the League’s year-round source for accurate and localized elections information.

Thousands of nonprofits, government officials, businesses and other groups have already signed up to participate in National Voter Registration Day 2016, with the hope of reaching hundreds of thousands of voters. While supporters of the day come from many different places and backgrounds, we all agree that voting is something to celebrate.

Everybody can get involved in this important holiday! If you volunteer with your local League of Women Voters or another community organization, there is still time to talk with your team and sign up as a partner. Or, you can celebrate as an individual by encouraging your social networks, email contacts and friends and family to register to vote or update their registration if they’ve moved, changed their name or changed their political affiliation since the last election. Follow #voterregistrationday for great shareable content and graphics.

We'll see you on September 27!
