Our Work Continues Today

A message from Jeanette Senecal, League of Women Voters Senior Director of Elections:

This was supposed to be a simple thank you email. Yesterday, the League of Women Voters helped millions of Americans as they cast their ballots in this historic election.

And we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you to the volunteers who served as election observers, making sure the election ran smoothly at the polls.

Thank you to the League leaders who spent hours organizing voters’ guides and candidate debates, registering thousands of new voters, staffing phone banks, taking calls from voters and the media.

Thank you to all the hard working advocates that stand up and fight for voters’ rights.

Thank you to each and every one of you who did your part to make sure VOTE411.org – which supported more than 4 million voters this election season – was bigger and better than ever this year.

I can’t thank you enough.

And I wish that’s all I had to say. Unfortunately, with this historic election has come an unprecedented danger to the very foundation of our democracy.

Defending the rights so many have fought and died for will be hard work. Rebuilding our communities will be an uphill battle. But the values we all hold dear can and will be the building blocks forward.

We need each and every one of you now more than ever.

Together, the League will continue our work to create a more perfect democracy so that ALL Americans enjoy the same liberties and freedoms.

Together we will raise the voices of those least heard and rarely listened to in this country - communities of color, the young, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and people with limited income.

Our work continues today.

With deepest appreciation,

Jeanette Senecal

Senior Director of Elections
