The League partnered with fellow voting and civil rights partner/groups to host a tweetchat on the critical voting rights case, Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council, Inc., and the nation’s urgent need to protect the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993.
A decision against the NVRA, which streamlined the many state laws that hindered citizen-led registration drives, would leave the mission of the League of Women Voters in jeopardy and make the voter registration process vulnerable to new forms of political manipulation.
When the League powered the vote for the 2012 Election, we reminded voters that ‘your vote is your voice.’ This week we honor Sunshine Week 2013, a nationwide effort to open up dialogue on the importance of transparency in government and freedom of information.
