This year the League of Women Voters is recognizing Leagues' outstanding program work around work related to their voters service efforts. We had so many great projects that were submitted for awards. This years finalists emphasized their work around elections and advocacy, mobilizing their grassroots, and visibility while finding opportunities for organizational growth. We would like to commend all who sumbitted their projects and congratulate the 16 finalists. Each finalists' project has been posted for the public to vote for their favorite project; four winners will be chosen (one from each category listed below) and announced during the Banquet at the 2012 LWVUS National Convention.
Effective Member Engagement— Leagues showcase election-related programs and activities that are innovative, unique and have been successful in gaining visibility as well as recruiting new members as well as engaging current members.
Strengthening Democracy— Leagues show how they activate their grassroots network to promote change around priority issues such as clean air, climate, protecting voting rights, and youth voting.
High Impact Online Engagement— Voters are relying more on social networks to give them up-to-date information about important issues. Leagues show how they effectively use blogs, Twitter and Facebook to reach voters, potential members and the public on national and local issues.
Community Connection— Leagues highlight issues that affect their local community and engage others (especially younger generations and underrepresented communities) to become civically involved.
