Karen Oelschlaeger is a member of the League of Women Voters of Asheville-Buncombe County in North Carolina.
Karen received her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Spanish Literature from Wesleyan University, and she is currently working towards a Masters of Social Work at the University of North Carolina. Karen is fluent in Spanish and has a basic understanding of American Sign Language. She is engaged in various organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers; and Buncombe County Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee. Currently, she is employed as an Administrative Assistant by the YWCA of the Southeast Region. Karen is also a member of the LWVUS Young People Task Force.
Karen has an extensive background in political organizing—having worked as a New Media Strategist for the Progressive Change Campaign; a field and outreach coordinator for various local political campaigns; an Online Communications Director for LWV Asheville-Buncombe County; and a State & Regional Coordinator for the Sierra Student Coalition.
