"It’s hard to describe the impact that involvement with the League has had on my life. I know that it has made me a much better citizen - more informed and willing to work to make my community a better place to live. I remember first hearing about the League of Women Voters when I watched the Presidential debates as a teenager. I remember thinking that I am going to be a part of that group someday.
Being involved in League has taught me to be able to speak up and share my opinion. When I use League positions, I know that they have are well researched. I also know that here in Orange County, the League garners respect for these reasons.
My favorite memory is from my first national convention in Miami. A very contentious issue was being debated, and I loved watching the discussion at the pros and con mikes. It made me proud to be part of such a well informed, smart group of women and men.
I feel that I have set a good example for my children by being a member of League. They know that if they do not vote, I will be very disappointed."
