Susan Morris Wilson is a member of the Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and the Board of Trustees of the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF). She was elected to her second term in June 2012. Ms. Wilson served as LWVUS/LWVEF secretary/treasurer from 2010-2012 and was the LWVUS Budget Committee chair in 2008-10.
Ms. Wilson joined the League in 1995 and has served in leadership roles at local, state and national levels. She has served as the president (2001-2010) of the LWV of Redding (CA) and as the Voter Services chair. She also served on the LWV of California Board as treasurer from 2003 to 2007 and currently manages the mental health portfolio.
Ms. Wilson currently works as the executive director of the Youth Violence Prevention Council of Shasta County. The non-profit organization focuses on youth as a critical part of a healthy community. In addition, she teaches early childhood education classes at Shasta College. She previously served as the executive director of First 5 Siskiyou and worked for First 5 California as a consultant. Ms. Wilson continues to be involved in programs that address community mental health issues including the Shasta County Mental Health Board and the CA Mental Health Planning Council. She has served as a member of the Shasta County Board of Education for almost 20 years.
Ms. Wilson holds a BS in Child Development from the University of California, Davis, and an MA in Public Policy Studies, Claremont University (Claremont, CA).
Ms. Wilson is a certified Master Gardener and gardening is her passion. Her garden is full of roses and herbs. She has lived in Redding CA for the past 20 years.
