At the national level, League activities are coordinated and staffed by two distinct but complementary organizations: The League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Associate is a key part of the Development team that provides the support by completing key, back-office functions.   

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a point of contact for donor-related inquiries, including mail, phone, and email.  
  • Coordinates all aspects of LWV’s donor stewardship program, including drafting acknowledgment letters, processing contributions, and handling customer service requests.  
  • Creates the monthly/quarterly Development newsletter, to provide relevant information for monthly donors.  
  • Assists with production oversight for the local membership dues renewal pilot program.  
  • Provides administrative support to departmental projects as needed. Assists with special projects and performs other duties as assigned.  

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: 

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, including experience in coordinating a variety of tasks simultaneously, maintaining well-organized and detailed records, as well as proven ability to complete projects.  
  • Provide excellent, timely, and prompt customer service and sensitive interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  
  • Ability to work independently but also function as a team player.  
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload.  
  • Prior experience with non-profits and/or membership groups preferred.
