The Southwest Harbor woman was growing up in Florida when she heard about the League of Women Voters trying to get people who were convicted of felonies a right to vote. When she talked to them, she was all in.

That’s because when she talked to them, she thought of her own father.

LWV of the US and LWV of Maine issued the following statement in response to the Maine Secretary of State’s decision declaring former President Trump ineligible to be listed as a candidate on the state’s 2024 presidential primary ballot.

"It's going to take that kind of courage from our political leaders," said Kellar, "but I think it's what their constituents are really looking for from them in a moment like this, is to do that soul searching and take a stand when they need to."

PORTLAND, WASHINGTON – The League of Women Voters of Maine and the League of Women Voters of the United States issued this statement following the acts of violence and active shooter situation in Lewiston. 

The League of Women Voters Education Fund has registered, educated, and engaged young people through its Youth Voter Registration project since 2010. 

In January – June 2023, 86 Leagues hosted close to 1000 events and registered over 19,000 youth in high schools, community colleges, technical and vocational schools, and other youth-serving areas, like community and recreation centers. And that’s just the 86 Leagues mentioned — our 750+ Leagues nationwide did even more!
