Action on voting rights in 2016 looks very similar to last year. On the whole, states are passing less restrictive election laws, and even better, more and more states are reforming their election process to help voters.
On Tuesday, September 23, the League of Women Voters of the City of New York hosted an event in honor of National Voter Registration Day (NVRD). This year we asked voters to tell us why they #JustSayYEStoVoting and we registered nearly 60 new voters!
Yesterday, on National Voter Registration Day, in New York City and at hundreds of events around the country, League members reminded Americans that every election is important and that voter registration deadlines are rapidly approaching.
"I can't remember now why I knew the League was the best way to become politically effective, but I have been on a League board everywhere I've lived. It's my 'home,' and whenever I've moved, it's helped me figure out my new location very fast."
