Online voter registration is taking hold across the country. Election officials recognize that online registration cuts costs, increases the accuracy of voter rolls and eases their administrative burdens. Voters like the ease and convenience of registering or updating their information online, while advocates appreciate the boost in voter registration numbers.
To say we’ve been busy this past year would be an understatement. The League’s mission – Making Democracy Work ® – means that we advocate for a democracy in which everyone has their say and every vote is counted.
Another election has come and gone and millions of Americans went to the polls to vote at the local, state and federal levels on the issues and candidates that mattered most to them. While they were working to make those important decisions, millions of dollars of secret money poured into the 2014 elections from dark money groups which hide the identity of their donors, seeking to buy our elected officials and distort our elections.
The League is dedicated to ensuring that all eligible voters – particularly those from traditionally underrepresented or underserved communities, including first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, minorities, the elderly and low-income Americans – have the opportunity and the information to exercise their right to vote.
