Voting is the most powerful way to have your voice heard, and it is the core of our democracy. The League works all year, every year, to empower all eligible voters to participate in our political system.
Last night, President Obama delivered his annual State of the Union (SOTU) address. For the third year in a row, the League brought you #LWV #SOTU Bingo to up the stakes! Across the country, League supporters played along, using our Bingo boards to track how the President’s speech matched up with the League’s key priorities, including voting rights, climate change and money in politics.
To say we’ve been busy this past year would be an understatement. The League’s mission – Making Democracy Work ® – means that we advocate for a democracy in which everyone has their say and every vote is counted.
If you voted this year or helped others in your community cast their votes, thank you! While a few races remain up in the air and final tallies are being counted, many new federal, state and local leaders are preparing for their positions and taking into account your vote and the issues you and millions of Americans weighed in on. Now, we must hold our elected officials accountable by continuing to be in regular contact with them on the issues we care about.
Since 2006, VOTE411 is your one-stop-shop for election information. It provides nonpartisan information to the public with both general and state-specific information on the election process and candidates.
