The League of Women Voters of Alachua County are hosting their 6th annual civics challenge and these 7th graders can’t hold their excitement.

Without the ability to make reproductive decisions for one’s body, those who can become pregnant cannot participate equally in our democracy.

Further, since the Dobbs decision reversing the right to abortion, numerous state governments have introduced legislation directly or indirectly related to reproductive rights, challenging doctrines of US democracy.

A new campaign announced Saturday, called Vote Local Now, is aimed at getting more people to the polls, especially African American voters. It’s spearheaded by the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville, along with 904ward and The League of Women Voters.
