Next week, the U.S. Senate will vote on S. 2280 which would approve the Keystone XL (KXL) pipeline. The proposed pipeline would stretch 1,700 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast, carrying the dirtiest oil on the planet through the U.S. to be refined and then shipped overseas to other countries.

The KXL pipeline will threaten the safety of our drinking water, promote a bad energy policy and increase the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere that contribute to climate change. This pipeline is a risky venture that is not in our national interest.

We need your help to make sure your Senators know the Keystone XL Pipeline is all risk and no reward. The vote in the Senate will be incredibly close and may come down to one or two Senators.

Call your Senators TODAY and ask them to oppose the Keystone XL Pipeline by voting NO on S. 2280. Call the Senate switch board at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be connected to your Senators' offices or find your Senators' phone numbers.

Once connected to your Senators' offices, please make the following points:

  • Ask your Senator to vote against the Keystone XL pipeline or any effort in the Senate to bypass the ongoing review process.
  • The Keystone XL tar sands pipeline threatens our climate, health and drinking water.  It is not in our national interest.
  • Americans support action on climate change and want you to stand up against pollution.
