The League joined a letter with other coalition partners in opposition of riders to HR 5485, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act. The riders would ensure that big money and special interests continue to dominate the political system.

VOTE FOR AMENDMENTS TO STRIKE UNDERMINING CAMPAIGN FINANCE RIDERS

June 22, 2016

Dear Representative:

The League joined a letter to the U.S. House urging Representatives to vote against an amendment that would reduce the budget of the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE).

LWVUS joined a letter with organizations from across the country urging congress to reject amendments to the FY 2016 budget that would undermine the EPA's Clean Water Rule.

The League joined with over one hundred other organizations urging Congressional appropriators to protect mandatory funding for farm bill conservation programs, support robust discretionary funding for Conservation Technical Assistance, and reject any attempt to undermine highly erodible land and wetland conservation compliance.

The League sent a letter to President Obama urging him to veto the FY 2016 Appropriations bill should it arrive on his desk with damaging campaign finance riders.

The League joined other coalition partners in sending a letter to the Office of Management and Budget requesting continued funding for Great Lakes restoration priorities.

The League joined coalition partners on a letter to Congress urging the renewal of critical provisions of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and refundable Child Tax Credit (CTC) before they expire. The EITC and CTC are among the nation’s strongest tools to help working families escape poverty and achieve greater self-sufficiency.

The League joined with other concerned organizations in a letter to the U.S House and Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee urging them to protect mandatory funding for the farm bill conservation program.

The League joined coalition partners on a letter to the U.S. House and Senate encouraging them to oppose the FY2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill. The League opposes the legislation because it contains destructive campaign finance provisions that would increase limits on individual contributions to a political party.

Dear Senator, [also Representative]

The League joined over 100 organizations on a letter to the conferees of the Farm Bill in Congress. The letter asks the conferees to oppose cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in any Farm Bill Conference and underscores the fundamental importance of the SNAP program.
