In 2011 the League of Women Voters, in partnership with the Leagues of St. Paul, MN; Baltimore County, MD; White Bear Lake Area, MN and Door County, WI organized hosting programs on the theme of Accountable Governance with subthemes on Municipal Governance, Elections, and Media and Participatory Government. During the year 24 visitors from Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Tajikistan were hosted for one week of intense programming on the themes.
On August 27, 2010, American Councils in Baku organized a round table discussion and reception to bring together Open World Leadership Center (OWLC) alumni hosted by the League of Women Voters. Event participants were Zaida Arguedas, Deputy Executive Director, Xandra Kayden, former LWVUS Board member, Terry R. Davidson, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S.
On August 2010 Kay Maxwell (former president of the League of Women Voters), Xandra Kayden (former board member of the League ) and Zaida Arguedas (the League’s deputy executive director) traveled to Baku and Ganja, to be part of an international conference entitled "The Role of Women in Electoral Activities." The conference was a multi-country effort led by Dr.
The League of Women Voters organized a Study Tour in Washington DC for the newly formed Clean Community Coalition of Southern Armenia. The tour for five Armenians took place in September 2009 to illustrate through meetings and site visits how trash collection, landfills, and other waste management issues are handled in the United States. The participants also used this opportunity to deepen their knowledge and hone their advocacy skills.
After traveling to Yerevan to attend the international conference "The Role of NGOs in the Public Policy Process" and after listening to the needs identified by local participants, the League submitted in August 2007 a concept paper recommending that local Armenian nongovernmental organizations be coached on effective advocacy skills.
