Next week, the U.S. Senate will vote on S. 2280 which would approve the Keystone XL (KXL) pipeline. The proposed pipeline would stretch 1,700 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast, carrying the dirtiest oil on the planet through the U.S. to be refined and then shipped overseas to other countries.
The progress we have made in the fight against climate change this year following the President’s announcement of a comprehensive carbon control plan is now being threatened in the Senate. Today S. 1392, an energy efficiency bill, was brought to the floor and a last minute push to add amendments that would undermine that progress is being made.
