  • In Minnesota, an amendment to the state constitution is expected to be introduced in the legislator early next year. We also expect to see voter photo ID bills move in MI, OH, PA and VA.

"After hearing the local League President speak at a political function, I was drawn to the fact that Leagues study current issues and do advocacy with State and Federal legislatures. My previous knowledge of the League was only in relation to putting on candidate forums. I found it inspiring to know about all the aspects of League work and I was motivated to join. I also thought that it would be worthwhile and satisfying on a personal level to be able to work in a non-partisan way to try to effect change in my community and state."

"The League of Women Voters always seemed to me to epitomize women with a voice.

About ten years ago a group of us were car-pooling from an event honoring women leaders. We lamented the state of government in our own community. Two former League members inspired us to start a new League and do something pro-active about our concerns.

Our LWV unit has been behind many positive changes, including getting women to run for office and elected to serve! We are appreciated and looked to as change agents for the greater good."
