In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating trailblazing women who advocate for equal rights and power our democracy.  

These include Byllye Y. Avery, America Ferrera, Jane Fonda, Coretta Scott King, and Winona LaDuke.

March is National Women’s Month, but March 8 is International Women’s Day. The Miami Valley has its fair share of women who are making a difference in their communities. 

The Greater Dayton League of Women Voters was founded in 1920, after a group called the ‘Dangerous Dames of Dayton’ protested and demanded suffrage.

While the digital age brings opportunity, it also brings the risk of disparity. For example, did you know that of the total workers in artificial intelligence, only 22 percent are women? And amid a global analysis of 133 artificial intelligence industries, it was found that 44.2 percent demonstrated gender bias?

Here are ways to create a better digital world for women and girls.

One Houston woman has made it her life's mission to fight for voting rights and she is currently the president of the local chapter of The League of Women Voters. “Voting rights is a passionate thing because I think every citizens’ voice should be heard," said Annie Johnson-Benifield.

The League is fortunate enough to have been a part of women's political power for over 100 years, from the days of the suffragists to the first female Vice President. Our female staff reflects on what womanhood means to them, and how it has shaped both their lives and our democracy.
