Almost 1 million immigrants became naturalized citizens in 2022, expanding the electorate significantly. During that time, 31 League volunteer teams across the country reported attending close to 800 naturalization ceremonies and registering over 37,000 New Americans to participate in our democracy — this represents just a small portion of our 750+ Leagues’ impact.

The Duluth League of Women Voters held their 25th annual Citizens in Action workshop. This event helps educate citizens in the Duluth area understand the process of government. It also allows community non-profit and advocacy groups to teach workshops on positively affecting change at different levels of government.

LWV of Minnesota filed a motion to join as co-plaintiffs in Wattson v. Simon, asking the Minnesota Supreme Court to appoint a special redistricting panel to prepare for the state’s upcoming redistricting process.

A federal judge approved a sweeping settlement in a lawsuit brought by voting rights advocates against a private security contractor, Atlas Aegis, for illegal voter intimidation in Minnesota.

A federal district court judge ruled in favor of CAIR-MN and LWV of Minnesota, granting a preliminary injunction in a move that prohibits private mercenary contractor Atlas Aegis from moving forward with its illegal voter intimidation plans in the state.
