The election omnibus bill that Missouri lawmakers passed this year was originally a seven-page attempt to again implement a photo ID requirement in order to vote in the state.

In November of 2018, voters passed ballot initiatives in three states to curb gerrymandering by reforming the redistricting process. Four years later, as redistricting battles once again sweep the nation, it’s time to look back at what those initiatives accomplished, and what still needs to be done. 

Voters voting by mail in 46 states are at risk of being disenfranchised due to delays with the US Postal Service.

In 2018, voters in Missouri made it clear that transparency, reforming campaign finance, & ending gerrymandering were important steps to be taken in reforming our democracy.

A St. Louis attorney who filed a slate of voter reform petitions in Missouri is suing Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, alleging that Ashcroft “intentionally cherry-picked portions of the initiative petitions and described them in as loaded and pejorative terms as possible, while leaving out aspects of the initiative petitions likely to be popular with voters.” League of Women Voters of Missouri president comments.
