Washington, DC and Eugene, Oregon – On Thursday, November 8, a federal judge ruled that youth plaintiffs may proceed with their historic climate change lawsuit in the case of Juliana et al v.

The League of Women Voters United States (LWVUS) and the League of Women Voters of Oregon (LWVOR) filed an Amicus Brief in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.

I attended the United State of Women Summit hosted by the White House, which highlighted the White House’s initiatives on women and girls, was a star studded event with political heavy weights, Hollywood elites and business leaders.

The League joined coalition partners on a letter calling for members of the U.S. House of Representatives to oppose H.Con.Res 89.

Despite the stay on implementation of the Clean Power Plan, some states are moving forward to develop state plans to implement the regulation in their own jurisdictions. The LWVUS Climate Change task force has developed a working guide for those wishing to get involved at the state level.

League Opposes H.R. 5055 (Legal Document)

The Obama Administration announced the first-ever-regulations to cut methane emissions in the oil and gas industry. League supporters sent thousands of comments to the Environmental Protection Agency in support of this rule.

On Earth day, world leaders will gather at the United Nations to sign the agreement put together during the UN Climate Conference in Paris. The historic agreement signaled the commitment to fight climate change by a global coalition.
